Packaging is no longer simply the surface-filter between contents and the world outside. A single product exists but also appears with its own personalized packaging that distinguishes it, protects it, transports it and explains it. Everything is wrapped, enveloped, put into a box, a bag or a bottle, wrapped in cling-film, vacuum-packed. Features of the course: This Master in Packaging Design, ideated and realized through cooperation's between the IED Arti Visive and IED Design Schools, is without doubt a reference point for future designers, marketing managers and heads of product development. The course is divided into various levels that alternate project design activities and research, integrated with disciplines such as Design, Graphic Design and Communication. Sonia Pedrazzini, Master coordinator. Sonia Pedrazzini is a product designer, specialized in the field of cosmetics. The course begins: January 2006. The course will run in Italian with English translations.

Projects This course will have three main projects that will be developed in collaboration with market leading companies. The role of the companies will be to present the project brief and guide each phase of development while offering any technical assistance if needed. Trips to production sites will be organised. The 3 projects will be: Plastic and Cosmetic Packaging, Paper Packaging, Glass and Food Packaging Skills Methodological and technical instruments for packaging design 3D Design approach, 3D Packaging approach, 2D Design approach, Colour applied to packaging, Sketches,Model Making Software Rhinoceros, 3D Studio Viz, Photoshop - Illustrator, Flash Technologies and materials of packaging Working of glass, paper, metals, plastic and their characteristics, Printing and pre-printing Logistics, Health and Safety The laws, Packaging and environment Packaging in communication strategies Marketing and communication, Visual Merchandising Packaging as culture The world of Packaging, History of Packaging, Semiotic, Packaging and society, Art and Packaging.
