Description: Since 1994, McDaniel College Budapest has educated hundreds of U.S. and international students in the liberal arts tradition. Open to all college students, McDaniel College Budapest is a unique study abroad experience in one of the most exciting and beautiful cities of Europe. The program offers a wide range of courses appropriate for students of all majors and interests. The most popular majors are Political Science and International Studies, History, Communication, Business Administration and Economics, Art History and Studio Art. All courses are taught in English. U.S. students may study abroad at McDaniel College Budapest for a semester or full year program.

The campus is located in an historic building that also provides the modern resources required for serious study. American students attend classes together with international students from over twenty countries. The city of Budapest and the cultural riches of Europe contribute to an exceptional learning experience. Students travel on field trips to cities throughout Central Europe.

McDaniel College Budapest, established in partnership with College International and International Studies, Inc., is a branch of McDaniel College, a private liberal arts college in Westminster, Maryland. The Budapest campus is fully accredited by the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is registered in Hungary as a foreign institution of higher education. In addition to serving as a national study abroad center for U.S. students, McDaniel College Budapest provides a full four-year program, leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree.

The McDaniel College Budapest program consistently receives high reviews from study abroad returnees regarding on-site staff, courses, field trips and group excursions, cultural experience, opportunities to interact with international students in and out of class, and opportunity for personal travel throughout the semester.

Highlights: Faculty

Courses are taught in English by distinguished British, Hungarian, and American professors (including a featured visiting professor from the McDaniel campus each semester). Faculty are available for consultation, and each student is assigned an academic adviser who will assist in matters of scheduling and course selection.

The Campus

The McDaniel College Budapest campus is situated in a spacious, historic school building in the heart of Budapest. The facilities blend old world architecture with the demands of the modern classroom: spacious classrooms, student lounge and reading areas, a cafeteria, administrative offices, and a computer lab with thirty work stations.

Housing

Students are housed in furnished double occupancy apartments (including individual bedrooms, living room and dining area, bathroom, kitchen facilities, washing machine, internet connection) within easy access to campus, shops, restaurants, parks.

Student Life

The student body is international and multicultural, from over twenty different countries throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

As a regular part of the program each semester, the College organizes special field trips to Prague, Vienna, and western Hungary. Students also have many opportunities to travel independently to major European cities.

Outside the classroom, students enjoy a rich cultural and social life. The entire city becomes an extended campus. From club music to world-class museums to hiking in the Buda hills, there is always something going on and something to do on weekends.

City of Budapest

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is a metropolis of over two million people and a vibrant center of European culture. The Danube flows through the heart of the city, dividing its two principals areas: residential and historic Buda on the hilly western bank; Pest on the eastern bank, the site of governmental, commercial, and cultural institutions. Budapest is an ideal scene for international study and travel. Cinemas, theatres playing in English, cafes, festivals, sports events, and lively nightspots'all at reasonable prices'make the city attractive for students. The city is easily accessible by taxi, subway, bus, and foot.
