Parsons Paris School of Art + Design
France
Term: Fall, Spring, Summer
Dates: Academic Year and Summer Programs
Description:
Parsons Paris is a school for serious art and design students with a genuine desire to fully develop their talents. Students who accept the challenges offered by the faculty join a community of artists, scholars, and designers who are collectively committed to engaging creative resources, expanding skills, exploiting learning opportunities and refining values and a sense of professional direction. Classes at Parsons Paris are small and informal, resulting in close working relationships among students and faculty alike. Students are thus exposed to the substantial variety of work produced by an international team of artists and designers. While the larger campus is certainly Paris itself, the facilities of Parsons Paris with its museums and historical sites, are ideally suited for the creative endeavors proposed in the classroom. Sky-lit studios used for drawing, painting and sculpture surround a central courtyard for quiet concentration. A fully equipped photography studio, printmaking room, fashion atelier, and computer lab enable students to explore the limits of their creativity. An in-house gallery features exhibits both professional artists and Parsons Paris students alike. Classes, limited to 10 to 15 students, along with the individual attention provided by the faculty, provide an optimum environment for developing the discipline and skill required of the student's artistic pursuit. This close knit community provides a home base for our international student body.
Highlights:
BFA degree programs in Fashion and Fine Arts as well as a BBA degree in Design and Management. Students can also begin degrees in Communication Design, Illustration, and Photography in Paris and complete their program at Parsons School of Design in New York. While classes are taught in English, we encourage students to study French so that they can take full advantage of their time in Paris. The Visiting Student Program provides an extraordinary study abroad option for college sophomores and juniors, or those with an undergraduate degree who wish to spend a semester or year experiencing the art, design, and culture of Paris. The intensive curricula is an excellent preparation for entering an MFA program or refining a professional level design portfolio.
