Description: This programme offers an in-depth study of photography and its significance in modern visual culture. Its focus is the critical analysis of the earliest to the most recent photographic experiments and art objects. Tracing photography's increased presence in private collections, public museums, commercial galleries and the emergence of major markets in this field is a key aspect of the course. A variety of lectures by distinguished guest scholars and experts as well as study visits to museums, art fairs and collections in the UK and abroad are included in the programme.

The programme is intended for those interested in careers as specialists in photographic imagery and objects but also provides a good grounding for all arts-based careers. Recent graduates have taken up positions at contemporary art and photographic galleries.
