Description: National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) is one of the most prestigious research universities in Taiwan, and is in the process of internationalizing her campus and would like to provide more opportunities to deserving international students to pursue studies on her campus.

There are seven colleges in NTHU, including The College of Science, Engineering, Nuclear Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Life Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology Management. NTHU not only offer degree programs but also exchange student program.

Bachelor's Degrees

The 17 undergraduate programs admit students who have passed the Joint College Entrance Examination. Admissions are also given to selected students from the Recommendation and Selection Program, from the Gifted Students Program, from the Visually Handicapped Students Selection Program, and some overseas students who are selected by the Ministry of Education. Bachelor's degrees are granted to those students who have fulfilled the requirements of the respective programs.

Master's Degrees

Holders of bachelor degrees or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education are admitted to the Master programs after passing an entrance examination. Outstanding graduating students from the University can also be directly admitted to the Master programs through a competitive selection process. Twenty-eight programs grant Master degrees to those candidates who have fulfilled the requirements of the respective programs.

Doctor's Degrees

Holders of Master degrees or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education are admitted to the Doctoral programs after passing an entrance examination. Outstanding first year students in Master programs are also admitted to the respective Doctoral program after demonstrating their research potential. Currently, there are twenty-four Doctoral degree programs.

Highlights: The University has given special emphasize in moral education and the development of individual character. Besides fostering the students with more aggressive attitude and better selfmanaging abilities,the University has continuously implemented programs to help students develop a character that consolidates the idea stated in the school motto.

Emphasis on physical education is another tradition of the University. The University has impeccable facilities including a gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, a baseball field, a track and field arena, and field courts for various sports. The University sponsors many sport events annually, such as swimming competitions, cross-country races and intramural games. Particularly exciting are the competing games among freshmen that are major events in school calendar.

Scholarships are Available. - The University provides several scholarships and fellowships, with annuities ranging from 2,000 to 50,000 N.T. dollars, to outstanding students. The Ministry of Education also provides 1,800 scholarships and fellowships to graduate students. For students with financial difficulties, the University also provides student-loan and mutual-fund to help them carry out their studies.
