The design school's academic level is ideal for students new to the field of Interior Design. For the entry level student, there are three options, a one year, two year or three year interior design course options. The one year course is a basic but intensive two (2) semester course that addresses all of the fundamentals of the interior design profession. The second year at the school is much more thorough in its exploration of interior design concepts. Larger projects are developed during this year with a more detailed approach to material and lighting. The third year of the Academic level completes your education with more technical training that emphasizes the job skills needed to execute a project from beginning to end. Each one year course is 30 weeks in duration. Our interior design courses focus on themes and design techniques used by leading Italian interior designers. Both Masters and beginning level courses of give the student a foundation of knowledge and skills in all areas of Interior design, interior decoration and furniture design. Our courses have been specially integrated to allow thorough exploration of each design concept. Form and functionality aspects are studied within the Studio Design Courses. Simultaneously, virtual 3D models of interiors and furniture will be created in the computer classes to further examine the visual aspects and presentation qualities of the scheme. This course integration allows for an efficient use of the student's time and complete project results. The Interior Design courses offer instruction in the most prevalently used programs used in the design professional world today. AutoCAD, 3d Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop The Florence Institute is an international school of Italian design providing both masters and academic level design courses. The Institute specializes in a wide range of courses of Graphic Design, Interior Design and Architecture for students from across Europe and around the world. We focus on today's international students with all classes taught in the English language. Highlights:
Field Trips: Field trips form an integral part of the Institutes curriculum. The school is located in close proximity to some of Florence's most important museums and cultural sites. Students should budget an additional 100 Euro per semester of travel and ticket cost for field trips that are scheduled for classes in which they are enrolled. Some of the sites typically visited by Interior design students include the Italy's largest furniture exhibition Salone dei Mobile in Milan and the ceramics exhibit Cersaie in Bologna.

Scholarships are Available. - The Florence Institute awards financial aid in the form of grants based on need to qualified applicants. The amount of financial aid grants awarded each semester varies with a minimum of 10% of the students receiving grants. Apply early to improve your chances of receiving financial aid.
To be considered for a grant you must:
1) Be qualified for one of the Institute's programs as per the admissions page.
2) Submit either: a) a portfolio or b) an essay:
a. Portfolios should include 3 projects (renderings, drawings, arte, or models)
b. Instead of a portfolio, academic students can submit a 150 word essay explaining "Why I wish to study design in Florence"
Requirements for Financial Aid:
In order to avoid a reduction in their financial aid award, during the academic year, students are required to carry a "B" average in all classes.
