St. John International University: B.A. in Environmental Studies
Italy
Description:
St. John International University (SJIU) is a private, American university offering both undergraduate and graduate programs. With its campus located in the 16th century Della Rovere Castle in Vinovo (Torino), Italy, SJIU is an ideal location for blending the rich humanistic tradition of Italy with the American liberal Arts system of today. The Environmental Studies program aims at giving students a deeper understanding of the interconnection between the physical, social and cultural environments in which all human activity takes place. Students will learn about and appreciate the wide range of approaches used to combat regional and global environmental problems. Today, the relationship between sustainability, health and environmental crises has created an unprecedented need to come to terms with our impact on the environment. These courses, in fact, are designed for those wishing to become more active in fields such as environmental stewardship and management. Students will learn how to promote a more sustainable, healthy and sensible lifestyle by becoming familiar with the social, cultural, political and ethical factors which arise from human interaction with the surrounding world. Through familiarity with these factors, students will be able to integrate coursework from disciplines such as geography, philosophy, sociology, biology and economics.
