Description:     * Are you interested in information technology in broader context of other disciplines?
    * Are you interested in investigating why services are the cornerstone in economy nowadays?
    * Would you like to find out relationships between IT and service systems?
    * Do you want to deal with real projects in a real business company during your study?
    * Do you wonder what you are actually studying for?

If so, come to the Faculty of Informatics at Masaryk University. Do not miss the unique opportunity and study the brand new field of study called "Service Science, Management, and Engineering"! Faculty of Informatics ranks among the world's first 10 universities establishing integrated SSME master study.

The SSME master study extends knowledge from the bachelor informatics degree. It joins a modern education in informatics with broader multidisciplinary overview especially of management, team work, and service economy principles. The study comes from the SSME initiative, which emphasizes the importance of services, and is supported by various significant companies led by IBM. All lectures are taught in English.

The ultimate goal of the study is to educate real T-shaped professionals, which are supposed to be both "deep and broad". Deep means that they have deep knowledge in a selected discipline (the core field of the study) and broad aims to multidisciplinary overlaps (communication skills across other fields).

In order to educate such T-shaped professionals, the nature of the study has to be notably different from the other study fields of the master's programme "Applied Informatics". The SSME study offers core education in informatics focused on IT services and service systems. In addition, it also offers courses of management, project management, and teamwork enabling SSME graduated students to easily join various business companies immediately after finishing their study.

The second aspect distinguishing the SSME study from the others is a guaranteed one semester internship in a real service-oriented business company, e.g. IBM. The internship creates a unique opportunity to use and confront knowledge obtained at university lectures with real problems in service-oriented business. The project solved during the internship as well as lessons learned from the stay in the real business serve as a base for a master thesis.

Highlights: The SSME major is intended for students who want to extend their specific informatics knowledge from the bachelor degree to both the multidisciplinary overview of management skills and service economy understanding, and gain a deep insight into the informatics fundamentals of service system construction and service system operation in business.

The course offers training in management, marketing, law, presentation skills, conceptual modeling, project, program, and portfolio management in such a way that the student will have a complete knowledge of service systems and will be able to co-operate in teams, consult with customers, and work effectively and efficiently in situations of many agents co-creating added value for customers.

Students will be introduced to the shift of the classical product paradigm in economy to the new service paradigm. They acquire knowledge and practical skills in service system design, construction, operation and evolution.
