Bachelor of Business Administration in International Facility Management

  Netherlands
  • Other Cities in Netherlands:
  • Groningen

Description: During the four-year International Facility Management Bachelor's degree program, you will learn how to make the immediate living and working conditions for employees, guests and customers as pleasant, safe and healthy as possible. Through this process the organization as a whole functions better. Therefore, Facility Managers contribute substantially to the efficient operation of the organizations for which they work. In your future career you may be responsible for services (e.g. IT services, catering, cleaning, security and quality management) and/or building accommodation (e.g. management of building processes, maintenance of workplaces). This makes Facility Management (FM) a very broad study program.

Facility Managers can work practically anywhere. They work at large companies such as banks, insurance companies or multinationals, but also in the public sector in hospitals, schools, universities, etc. Facility Managers can also be found in the hospitality industry, such as in hotels, resorts, conference centers and holiday parks. In addition, you can work as a facility management consultant or even set up your own business - a security firm, for example.

Highlights: The first two years of this study program form a broad theoretical basis with subjects such as: introduction to FM, Innovative Workplace, Processes, Services, Purchasing, Developing New Services, Sustainable Housing and Quality Management. In the third year students specialize (e.g. commercial or corporate facility management). You will spend the third year abroad: one semester at one of our partner universities and one semester on work placement at a company based outside your country of origin. The fourth year continues to build upon the specializations: strategic management or entrepreneurship. The study program is finalized with a thesis -- an advisory report for an organization.

Scholarships are Available. Grants for EU/EEA students Fee-paying EU/EEA students who will start their degree program in the academic year 2008/2009 may apply for a so-called "collegegeldkrediet" (tuition fees credit). This is an interest-bearing loan from the Dutch government to cover the costs of the Dutch higher education tuition fees. The loan will have to be repaid (in installments) after the student has graduated. Students can apply for a 'collegegeldkrediet' with the IB-Groep, the Dutch organization that is responsible for student loans and grants. * Huygens Scholarship Program The Huygens Scholarship Program (HSP) is open to students from all countries of the world. It is aimed at highly talented students who want to come to the Netherlands in the final phase of their Bachelors studies or during their Masters studies to earn a degree. The study period can include research and/or practical training. Scholarships are awarded for a period of no less than 6 months and no more than 24 months. They include the following components: - a monthly allowance of Euro 900 (this includes a standard contribution towards health care insurance) - visa fees (standard contribution) - reimbursement of the tuition fees - a one-off payment towards international travel costs (standard contribution based on country of origin) The deadline for a HSP Huygens scholarship for 2010-2011 is 1 February 2010. Applicants first need to be accepted by the study program of their choice. They can apply for a HSP Huygens scholarship through Nuffic (Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education), on the basis of a nomination by Hanze University Groningen. As the Huygens Scholarship Program is aimed at highly talented students, Hanze University Groningen will normally only nominate students that have obtained excellent results in all their previous studies. * The Netherlands Fellowship Program Hanze University Groningen also participates in the Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP), which supports students from developing countries. The fellowships are granted for the duration of the program and cover the tuition fees and the costs of international travel, subsistence, books and health insurance. * China Program China Program scholarships are meant for outstanding Chinese students who have completed a Bachelors program and want to come to the Netherlands to do a Masters program. Students who wish to be considered for a China Program scholarship for 2010/2011 must apply to the China Scholarship Council in Beijing before 1 February 2010. The program is highly competitive; only 25 scholarships are awarded each academic year. A national selection committee decides which candidates will be awarded a scholarship. * StuNed Scholarships StuNed scholarships are available for Indonesian professionals with at least two years work experience in a development-related organization who want to come to the Netherlands to do a Masters program or a short course. Emergency fund Hanze University Groningen has set up an emergency fund for students who are forced to stop their studies because they have run into financial difficulties through no fault of their own. They can appeal to the Emergency Fund for an interest-free loan or a gift. Students who want to apply for a contribution from this fund should contact the student counselor.
