International Bachelor Communication and Media

  Netherlands
    Rotterdam

Term: Academic Year

Description: Media, telecommunications, computer networks, and creative industries reach into every corner of the world, increasingly impacting economies, politics, and cultures everywhere. The shift in everyday experience toward enhanced mediation has enormous consequences. It transforms international relations and business opportunities, but also citizenship and democracy, cognition and culture, as well as people's personal and working lives. Communication and media has thus become a vital and rewarding field of study that will help students understand and function successfully within contemporary global society.

In September 2009, the Faculty of History and Arts of Erasmus University Rotterdam will launch an International Bachelor's programme in Communication and Media (IBCOM).* It is the most recent international asset of Erasmus University that has been a front runner among Dutch and European universities in the development of international degree courses including the highly reputed BSc programmes in International Business Administration and Economics and Business Economics.

Highlights: International focus, cosmopolitan learning environment

Meeting the demands of the contemporary communication and media professions requires flexibility, creativity and adaptability to ever-changing, increasingly global and diverse working environments. The Bachelor's in Communication and Media at Erasmus University therefore features a comparative, international approach to the study of communication and media. The programme is fully taught in English to a cosmopolitan classroom that hosts a variety of nationalities. Student intake is limited and students are selected according to their education and background. With extensive international exchange opportunities and fellow students representing a select group from around the world, the IBCOM programme offers you the perfect preparation for an international master's in communication and related fields, while it is also an excellent stepping stone to an international career in communication.

Erasmus University Rotterdam - School of Economics's Mission Statement: The ESE is the natural choice: for everyone to study economics in a broad sense, for academics to make progress in relevant and challenging research, for alumni to meet and greet, and for government and firms to seek reliable advice. The ESE enjoys great acclaim in the Netherlands and abroad for its fundamental and applied scientific research. Its two graduate schools, the Erasmus Research School of Management (ERIM) and the Tinbergen Institute (TI) are among the very best research institutes and graduate schools in the world. The Erasmus School of Economics strategically has a clear focus on economics. It is the only school in the Netherlands which explicitly educates business economics. All faculty members are involved in both research and teaching. This allows the ESE to thrive. Just as they were 100 years ago, the economists are the pounding heart of Erasmus University Rotterdam.
