Small classes of students and leading academics from around the globe spend three interactive semesters in Oslo, pursuing courses specially developed by staff at the Oslo University College and writing a supervised thesis. The program's comparative focus allows students to develop a tool set for analysis in professional fields and within many fields of research, to learn more about selected country of focus for one's own research as well as to gain more insight about one's home country. Courses include Globalization and Health/Social Policy; International Health Policy, Migration; Ethnicity and Multiculturalism; as well as more foundational topics such as Social Welfare Theory and Research Methods.

* Provides the foundation for a career in professional field of social welfare and health * Takes place in Oslo 1 September 2010 - 30 June 2011 * Small classes of students from around the globe experience three interactive semesters in Oslo * Internationally-acclaimed scholars teach courses ranging from international health, risk theory and globalization to foundational research methods and scientific theory * Comparative focus allows students to develop a tool set for analysis in professional fields and within many fields of research, as well as to learn more about a selected country of focus for one's own research as well as to learn more about one's home country * Students receive supervision from scholars to write an MA thesis on a topic of your choosing from June 2010 * Students completing program receive 90 ECTS credits in one year * Recent students completing the program have found positions in research institutes, foreign embassies, welfare organizations, and NGOs * Tuition for courses is free - only minimal fees required. Reasonably priced student housing is available * For those students not in the EU, part-time work visas can be provided for program participants to take part in Norway's healthy labor market * All instruction is in English
